Women’s Sailing Conference to Take Place June 1

The 18th annual Women’s Sailing Conference will take place June 1 at the Corinthian Yacht Club in Marblehead, Massachusetts. The event is spearheaded by the National Women’s Sailing Association.

Workshops, networking opportunities and seminars will be offered for women to build or hone sailing skills in the company of other women. The day will begin with a continental breakfast, with raffles taking place throughout the day and a silent auction. Later, there will be cocktails, dinner and a keynote speech by Haley Lhamon of Sail Like a Girl, the winning boat in the June 2018 Race to Alaska. Pat Dieselman will be awarded the 2019 Leadership in Women’s Sailing Award.

Some of the new workshops this year include: How to Read a Navigational Chart, In the Water Unexpectedly, Suddenly Alone, How to Use the VHF for Clear Communications and Avoiding Mayhems and Missteps.

“Women of all sailing abilities are encouraged to sign up now to attend,” says Joan Thayer, the event chair. “By sharing experiences, women leave with improved skills and knowledge that contribute to better days on the water. There is something of interest for everyone in the 20 different workshops.”

Registration is $200. For more information about the day and to register, visit
