Midway up the western coast of Michigan, tucked in the Pere Marquette State Forest between Silver Lake and Ludington, the village of Pentwater is the perfect place to spend the day, the week, or the entire summer. With access to Lake Michigan and the quiet harbor in Pentwater Lake, (originally Middlesex and later renamed Pentwater from “pent up waters”), the village was founded in 1867 by Charles Mears to ship lumber.
